Our Story

It all started in the most romantic of settings: The laundry room in the basement of Jack McDonald Hall at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. An exciting new chapter in our lives was beginning - and for some reason, Tyler decided to kick it off by doing laundry on his first day of business school. Edward had only a mildly better excuse, having just moved back to the U.S. from Shanghai. He hadn't done laundry in years thanks to his long-time ayi (housekeeper, common in China) and thus had forgotten dryer sheets, which Tyler eagerly supplied.

Fortunately, the day we met was also Edward's 30th birthday. Having hit it off, Tyler joined in Edward's celebrations for a classy evening of dancing at one of the Stanford's local institutions - The Patio. And as luck would have it, it turned out we were randomly assigned into Section 3 together, ensuring we would spend all day every day together in class - and our fate was sealed.

P.S. - if you're wondering about the symbol in the crest (喜喜) it's called the "double happiness" or "shuang xi," a traditional Chinese wedding symbol, representing double joy and happiness for newlyweds.
